Panels Approved for NYSERDA Savings Programs

Insulating window panels help building owners beat the high cost of energy

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. — Building owners who want to reduce heating and cooling costs quickly and easily by 20-55%, can do so more affordably, now that Windo-Therm’s patented, clear window insulating panels are eligible for two NYSERDA programs.

In addition, under the NYSERDA “Smart Equipment Choices Program” commercial gas users in Con Edison territory in Manhattan, the Bronx and Westchester have two ways to apply for a $1.50-per-square-foot incentive for installing Windo-Therm window insulating panels:

1. They can apply to be pre-qualified for the incentive if they do so before July 1st. Being pre-qualified guarantees the incentive dollars are set aside for them. 

2. They can apply after installing Windo-Therm panels and with their application they should send their invoice and the Windo-Therm panel specifications.

“The worst heating and cooling loss in a building is usually through its windows,” said Jim Devine, Windo-Therm’s president and founder. “Our panels can triple the insulating value of existing windows. When our panels are installed on the inside of an existing single-glazed window, the panels immediately create an Energy Star level of efficiency.”

Windo-Therm panels are double glazed with a polyolefin film on a weatherstripped extruded aluminum frame, creating a very effective thermal barrier.  They are installed on the inside of existing windows, and the weatherstripping, along with the dual glazing, keeps the warm, moist, inside air from reaching the cold outer glass.  This prevents condensation, which is the leading cause of peeling paint, rotting woodwork, and mold.
